These 4-40 x 1/4" Thread Forming Screws feature a Pan Head with a Six-Lobe Drive and are made from 18-8 Stainless Steel. Thread Forming Screws create mating threads by displacing material rather than cutting it, making them useful in softer materials where strong thread engagement is desired. Thread Forming Screws for Metal are designed to reduce driving torque while creating strong mating threads in ductile metals and similar materials. They feature a Black Oxide Finish, which provides mild corrosion resistance and a dark matte appearance and is commonly used in indoor or lightly protected applications.
